Abstract

The tests reported herein were intended to gain information on how manufactured home shear walls perform under extreme loads. The specimens tested represent sections from a typical manufactured home. The test results will be used for analytical modeling purposes, and will provide useful insights into the stiffness, the strength, and the failure mechanisms of shear walls constructed with gypsum board cladding attached to the framing with adhesives and staples. The test results also provide valuable information on the performance of walls with openings, and on how the type of cladding affects the response of the assembled wall. They also confirm the importance of good quality control.
