Abstract

A novel TE01δmode cylindrical dielectric resonator has been used to measure the complex permittivity of liquids. Measurements have been performed at frequencies of 422 MHz and 970 MHz on 1-propanol alcohol, methyl alcohol, deionized water, and conductivity standard water-potassium chloride solutions. Rigorous mode-matching anaylsis was used to determine the complex permittivity. Relative measurement type B uncertainties for the real permittivity were estimated to be less than 0.01 and for the loss tangent, less than 0.01.
