Abstract
This past August 4-6 the first Federal Technical Standards Workshop was held in Washington, DC. The theme was Standards Management A World of Change and Opportunities. The purpose if the conference was to further the implementation of the National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act of 1995 (Public Law 104-113) by sharing information, best practices and new standards related activities that the Federal Government is undertaking. The conference was sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE), NIST, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Partnership in Reliability, Maintainability & Supportability Standards (RMS Partnership). Vital information was exchanged and the conference as well received. Plans exist for a similar conference to be held in the spring of 2000.Citation
