NIST Opens New Grant Opportunities to Support Standards Education

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has announced a new round of financial support for developing undergraduate- and graduate-level curricula that integrate standards and standardization information and content into learning resources, courses and seminars at U.S. colleges and universities. Accredited institutions of higher education, both nonprofit and commercial organizations; and state, local and Indian tribal governments located in the United States and its territories are eligible.

"Standards and standardization help enable and drive U.S. innovation and competitiveness in the world economy," said Gordon Gillerman, director of NIST's Standards Coordination Office. "Through these cooperative agreements, NIST supports efforts to provide opportunities in higher education on standards and standardization," he said.

In 2015, NIST awarded seven such grants totaling over $490,000. Applications for this year's grants must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, April 5, 2016.
