Abstract
This work describes a novel microfluidic platform to trap, release, transport, and detect superparamagnetic beads (SPBs) with magnetic spin-valves (SVs). This new technique for simultaneous SPB manipulation and detection was demonstrated on a linear array of bistable 1 υm × 8 υm bottom-pin SVs (approximately equal}3% GMR) addressed locally with read and write lines. We successfully transported, trapped, and detected a single 2.8 υm diameter SPB. During detection, the SPB was magnetized with an in-plane +9 mT field perpendicular to the SV's easy axis.Proceedings Title
