Abstract
Interlaboratory measurement comparisons, or round robins, are a useful diagnostic tool during the standards-development process. The NIST Optoelectronics Division has coordinated, or provided data analysis for, numerous round robins for the fiberoptics industry, typically on behalf of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). This column briefly describes two TIA interlaboratory comparisons: a recent round robin for measurements of Raman gain efficiency and a current round robin for measurements of optical return loss.
