Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout or LOTO)
This suborder provides the requirements to controlling the accidental start-up or release of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout) that could occur during the servicing of equipment. Currently, this suborder does not apply to electrical LOTO where the accidental start-up or release of hazardous electrical energy could cause electrical burns, shock, electrocution, and archflash/blast. Please see NIST's Electrical Safety Notice NIST N 7101-64 prior to conducting electrical LOTO.
