Radiofrequency and Microwave Radiation Safety Program

This suborder’s purpose is to ensure the safety of personnel working with or around equipment capable of generating radiofrequency and/or microwave radiation (RF/MW). It applies to all NIST employees and covered associates whose duties require them to work with devices or systems intended to generate RF/MW radiation in free space, or inside enclosures that workers could enter, who could be exposed to RF/MW radiation at levels that equal or exceed occupational maximum permissible exposure limits.
