Amanda is a Physical Science Technician for the NIST Biorepository at the Hollings Marine Laboratory in Charleston, SC. She serves the Biospecimen Science Group by providing support in the preparation of biological and environmental samples using standardized protocols to ensure sample stability and measurement reproducibility. The samples stored in the NIST Biorepository provide a unique environmental monitoring resource that allows for the investigation of contaminant trends, biomolecular measurements, and the verification of analytical measurements. Amanda also assists her group in the production of cryogenic reference materials (RMs), which are used for measurement verification and quality assurance.
Before joining NIST in 2023, Amanda received her B.S. from The Florida Institute of Technology, where she conducted research investigating the role of nutrient ratios in shaping algal blooms in the Indian River Lagoon, FL.
