Andrew J. Gayle received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 2023, working under Prof. Neil P. Dasgupta. He is a visiting post-doctoral associate through the PREP program (University of Maryland), and is a former NRC postdoctoral research fellow. His primary research focus is the development of custom microscopes for probing the structural, chemical, and mechanical properties of materials, primarily for microelectronics advanced packaging applications. These microscopes incorporate various spectroscopic techniques, including conventional Raman spectroscopy, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), low-frequency Raman spectroscopy, and Brillouin spectroscopy.
