Ashley Carey joined the Infrastructure Materials Group in 2023 as a Mechanical Engineer. Currently, she is working on the project Assessing Pyrrhotite in Concrete where her focus is on developing methods to mitigate pyrrhotite oxidation in concrete foundation walls.
Prior to joining NIST, Ashley was a Research Engineer at the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) in Starkville, MS where she was developing test methods to characterize thermo-mechanical properties of mass high strength concrete structures for the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and researching cement stabilized pavement layers for the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).
Her research interest include cement stabilized materials, material durability, and test method development.
