Deron Wheeler is a Senior Patent Paralegal and Paralegal Coordinator in the Technology Partnerships Office (TPO) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Mr. Wheeler’s primary duties include processing all incoming correspondence from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO). He is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of all information entered into NIST’s intellectual property database and keeping abreast of domestic intellectual property laws and policies. In addition to these responsibilities, Deron serves as a backup to support other TPO paralegals in their daily duties as needed.
Mr. Wheeler’s extensive knowledge of Intellectual Property results from professional responsibilities dating back to 1999. He has served in many roles during his career, including, but not limited to, Patent Paralegal, Intellectual Property Docketing Coordinator, and Trademark Coordinator/Paralegal. He has worked for several large national law firms, including Foley & Lardner, Womble Bond Dickinson, and Baker & Hostetler.
Mr. Wheeler received a certificate in Paralegal Studies from the College of Southern Maryland in 2003, and his Intellectual Property expertise has been honed through attending many trainings and seminars.
