Hongqiang Fang (IntlAssoc)

Dr. Hongqiang (Rory) Fang is a postdoctoral international guest researcher in the Fire Fighting Technology Group of the Fire Research Division of the Engineering Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He received his PhD from the City University of Hong Kong in 2023, specializing in smart fire evacuation for high-rise buildings. His research interests include the application of AI and machine learning (AI/ML) in firefighting and building evacuation, assessment of emerging fire risks, and building facility management. Dr. Fang is currently working on the AI-enabled smart firefighting project in the Fire Research Division, where he is responsible for developing and maintaining an FDS data generator to automate the creation of multiple Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) input files for various scenarios. Additionally, he is dedicated to developing a recommendation system that leverages AI/ML technologies to enhance dynamic fire evacuation strategies.
