Ryan Snodgrass is a research scientist in the Quantum Sensors Group, where he leads multiple projects related to cryogenics. His research interests include thermoacoustic systems such as pulse tube refrigerators and Gifford-McMahon cryocoolers, as well as sub-kelvin coolers such as dilution refrigerators. Ryan’s foremost goal is to make cryogenic refrigerators more accessible, compact, and energy efficient. Towards these aims, his recent projects have included a detailed study of regenerator cooling power in 4 kelvin pulse tube refrigerators, methods for rapid cooldown of pulse tube refrigerators, and the thermodynamic analysis of miniature dilution refrigerators that circulate helium-3 using cold adsorption pumps.
