Susanne Furman is a Cognitive Scientist in the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Visualization and Usability Group. She works on and investigates usability for both cybersecurity and biometric devices for agencies such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Furman has worked as a human factors engineer at GE, IBM, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where she ran its usability program. She has her MA and PhD degrees in Human Factors and Applied Cognition from George Mason University where she is also an adjunct professor in the psychology department.
