Youssef is a graduate student in the Neutral Atom Optical Clock group. He works on developing Yb optical lattice clocks (OLCs) for next generation quantum time metrology. His focus has been on suppressing black-body radiation shift, the largest source of uncertainty in OLCs. He has also been involved in efforts to cool clock atoms to sub-uK for better characterization of lattice induced light clock shifts, and in introducing techniques to control the spatial atomic distribution inside the lattice. Youssef graduated with B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Science and Technology at Zewail City, Egypt in 2017.
