Organic photovoltaics (OPV) represents the most challenging use case for soft matter ICME within the CHiMaD portfolio of use cases. Recent empirical advances in power conversion efficiency to greater than 10% suggests that OPV is clos to the threshold of entering the market place for novel, light-weight, flexible, portable power applications. By virtue of their compatibility with roll-to-roll processing techniques, OPV is a scalable and sustainable renewable power technology. However, market entry has been frustrated by the lack of predictive tools to aid the lab-to-fab transition. Empirical optimizaation of hgh volume manufacturing has proven costly.
