Abstract

The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 defined responsibilities for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in regards to the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) and FirstNet (FN). AT&T was awarded to be a partner with FN and was selected to build the NPSBN. One requirement of the legislation is that the director of NIST must keep a list of certified devices that have been approved for use on the NPSBN that FN and AT&T build and maintain. Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR)has been deputized by the director of NIST to fulfill the legislation. PSCR, as an organization within NIST, represents NIST and the director of NIST for the purposes of fulfilling the legislation. This document describes the process for creating and maintaining the list.
