Atomic Data for Lighting Applications

October 16, 2008
Author(s)
Gillian Nave, Craig J. Sansonetti, Joseph Reader
A major objective of our research program is the observation of spectra of rare earth elements in support of our program of atomic data measurements for lighting applications. Three years ago, NIST acquired a high-resolution Fourier transform spectrometer

Atomic Transition Rates for Neutral Holmium (Ho I)

October 16, 2008
Author(s)
Gillian Nave
Transition rates for 325 lines of Ho I are presented. They have been measured by combining branching fractions obtained by Fourier transform spectrometry with published lifetimes. The uncertainty of the transition rates is 5 % to 10 %.

Precise Wavelengths for Fe, Ge and Pt in the Region Near 1935

October 16, 2008
Author(s)
Gillian Nave, Craig J. Sansonetti
Wavelengths of seven spectral lines of Fe I, Ge I and Pt I between 1932 and 1938 have been measured with uncertainties of less than 1x10 -4 (5 parts in 10 8) using Fourier transform spectroscopy. These lines provide accurate standards for wavelength

The Ne II Spectrum

October 16, 2008
Author(s)
Alexander Kramida, Gillian Nave
Spectra of neon-filled hollow cathode discharge lamps were observed by means of high-resolution Fourier-transform spectroscopy (FTS) covering the region from vacuum ultraviolet to near infrared. By combining these new measurements with results of other FTS

Observations of Pt/Ne hollow cathode lamps similar to those used on the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph

July 7, 2008
Author(s)
Gillian Nave, Craig J. Sansonetti, S. V. Penton, Nathaniel Cunningham, Matthew Beasley, Steve Osterman, F Kerber, Charles D. Keyes, Michael R. Rosa
We report accelerated aging tests on three Pt/Ne lamps from the same manufacturing run as lamps installed on the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS). One lamp was aged in air at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at a current of 10 mA

Performance of the GHRS Pt-Ne Hollow-Cathode Lamps After Their Return From Space and Comparison With Archival Data

May 1, 2006
Author(s)
F Kerber, D Lindler, P Bristow, Gillian Nave, Joseph Reader, Craig J. Sansonetti, D Lembke, S Heap, Michael R. Rosa, H J. Wood
The Space Telescope European Co-ordinating Facility (ST-ECF) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) are collaborating to study hollow cathode calibration lamps as used onboard the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). As part of the STIS

The Spectrum of Th-Ar Hollow-Cathode Lamps in the 900 nm to 4500 nm Region: Establishing Wavelength Standards for the Calibration of VLT Spectrographs

May 1, 2006
Author(s)
F Kerber, Gillian Nave, Craig J. Sansonetti, P Bristow, A Rosa, H-U Kaufl, Michael R. Rosa
The European Southern Observatory (ESO), the Space Telescope European Co-ordinating Facility (ST-ECF), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) are collaborating to study Th-Ar hollow cathode lamps as used for the calibration of VLT
