This document contains an overview and describes the objectives of the STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model Data) On-Line Information Service (SOLIS). This report is also intended to provide a general explanation of this service and its capabilities. This service is provided and maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory (MEL), IGES/PDES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification/Product Data Exchange using STEP) office in the Manufacturing Systems Integration Division. SOLIS enhances the ability to gain consensus on ISO 10303, an international standard for the computer-interpretable representation and exchange of product data, by expanding the availability of STEP draft standards, supporting documents, and software used by the community of experts who are contributing to this standard.
