The Domestic Guest Researcher (DGR) Program provides access for technically qualified U.S. citizens to NIST facilities and equipment while working with NIST staff on projects of mutual interest. Research results are available to the public, because the DGR Agreement does not provide for confidentiality of research results. If confidentiality of cooperative research results are desired a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) may be appropriate.
Procedure: Present your research idea to the appropriate Laboratory Division. If an appropriate opportunity is identified by you and the Division, the Division will submit a short description of the collaborative work to be performed, along with other relevant information, to their Laboratory Director for approval, and arrange to have a Domestic Associate Agreement finalized.
If you are not a U.S. Citizen, please visit our Foreign Guest Research Program.
