NIST Safety Commission Subcommittees

The NIST Safety Commission established three subcommittees to focus on different aspects of NIST’s overall safety program and culture. The three subcommittees (with associated documents) are as follows:

• Hazard Reviews and Risk Assessment
  • NIST 7101-20 Directive on Work and Worker Authorization Based on Hazard Reviews
• Incident Investigations, Corrective Actions, and Follow Up 
• Safety and Culture
  • NIST 7101-05 Directive on the Management Observation Process
  • Fiscal Year 2023 NIST Safety Culture Survey Report from the National Safety Council

NIST Director Laurie Locascio established a fourth committee — the Review Subcommittee — to conduct an independent review of the NIST investigation report on the workplace death of a NIST staff member in September 2022.
