Plan views of the structural framing system of five prototype steel moment-frame buildings are shown, with overall plan dimensions of 30.48 m by 45.72 m. Buildings 1, 2, and 3 have a 5 bay by 5 bay plan layout, while buildings 4 and 5 have a 3 bay by 5 bay layout. Buildings 1 and 4 are designed for seismic design category C and use intermediate moment frames to carry lateral loads, while buildings 2, 3, and 5 are designed for seismic design category D and use special moment frames to carry lateral loads. Buildings 1, 2, and 4 have moment frames only on the exterior of the buildings, while buildings 3 and 5 have moment frames in the interior as well.
E-W elevation view of steel moment-frame buildings:
An east-west elevation view is shown of the structural framing system for the 10-story prototype steel moment-frame buildings. The first-story height is 5.33 m, and the upper nine stories each have a height of 4.19 m.
E-W elevation and plan views of cast-in-place concrete frame buildings:
An east-west elevation view and a plan view are shown of the structural framing system for the 10-story prototype cast-in-place concrete frame buildings. The first-story height is 4.57 m, and the upper nine stories each have a height of 3.66 m. The overall plan dimensions are 30.48 m by 45.72 m, with a 5 bay by 5 bay plan layout.
