Candice M. Smith leads Boeing’s Design Practices and Processes system, steering critical engineering excellence initiatives impacting Boeing’s 50,000+ global engineers. Her career at Boeing began as a co-op student, and she worked her way up through various engineering and management roles. She was previously Director of Boeing’s Enterprise Engineering, responsible for strategies to advance functional excellence to enable people, processes, and tools across the engineering value stream and engineering career life cycle. She is passionate about community service and youth empowerment through volunteer work and mentoring. Ms. Smith has received a number of professional awards and was an Eisenhower Foundation Fellow, studying the intersection between youth creativity and innovation resilience. Other notable awards include the St. Louis American Foundation Young Leaders, STEM Women of Color in Technology Rising Star, Black Engineer of the Year, and Modern Day Technology Leader. She serves as board chair of Project SYNCERE, a youth STEM engagement program. Ms. Smith served in the Illinois Army National Guard military police battalion while earning her Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. In addition, she holds a Master of Science in systems engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
