KT-Grant is located in Export, Pennsylvania, and employs approximately 75 people. KT-Grant has provided refractory lining, slag, and scale build-up removal services and equipment to customers in the metal, mining, and chemical processing industries.
KT-Grant was facing challenges keeping work areas clean and safe, decreasing the labor hours for assembling machines and reducing labor costs. Catalyst Connection, part of the Pennsylvania MEP and the MEP National Network™, discussed with KT-Grant leaders' intentions to bolster their continuous improvement journey through additional process enhancements and training protocols in all of KT-Grant facilities.
Catalyst Connection made it easy for us to engage with our employees our message of continuous improvement. Their staff is very talented with how they present the continuous improvement message. They keep everyone’s attention during the classroom sessions and are very hands-on when we get to the work areas. They have the ability to get the skeptical employees to buy into the fact that change is a good thing and needed to keep us ahead of our competitors.
The success of any lean implementation relies heavily on employee morale and engagement. Catalyst Connection provided KT-Grant employees with training in 5S Workplace Organization and Standardization, as well as offering the Training Within Industry – Job Relations program.
