Brief
Mr. Robert M. Gomez completed his four year indentured machinist apprenticeship at The Wright & McGill Co. Denver, CO between 1979 and 1983. He then worked at that company for several more years before moving to an aerospace fabrication company as a close tolerance machinist. He began his service with the U.S. Government as a tool and die maker at the Denver Mint (Department of Treasury). He moved to the NIST Boulder laboratories in 1987, and has been part of the Experimental Properties of Fluids Group since that time. His work now includes calibrations, the preparation of gas mixtures, and laboratory modifications, in addition to instrument fabrications.
Mr. Gomez is a committed member of his community, and spent some time as a relief worker in Beaumont Texas assisting those displaced after hurricane Katrina. In his spare time, he enjoys automotive mechanics and restoration.
