The New Steel Conference Speaker: T. Earles

Travis Earles serves as Assistant Director for Nanotechnology in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.  He co-chairs the National Science and Technology Council Subcommittee for Nanoscale Science, Engineering and Technology (NSET), facilitating interagency coordination and oversight of the National Nanotechnology Initiative (www.nano.gov) and reaching out to the science and technology community across academia, government, and industry to foster responsible development of nanotechnology.  Formerly at the National Cancer Institute, Earles played a key role planning, implementing, and coordinating the five-year, $144 million Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer (nano.cancer.gov) launched in 2005 (extended in 2010 for another five years).  He holds a bachelors degree in biomedical engineering from Catholic University of America as well as an MBA and MS in technology management from the University of Maryland.
