5440: Introduction to Bloom's Taxonomy and Learning Objectives

This course is intended to provide trainers with the skills in learning objective development needed to develop successful training events. These webinars are also recommended as a refresher or review for any trainer already familiar with these concepts.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this class students will have the knowledge and skills and abilities to:

  1. Identify the components of a Learning Objective that comply with the IACET standard and OWM procedures;
  2. Describe the value and need for well written learning objectives in training materials;
  3. Select suitable learning objectives for scenarios based on the constraints of a learning event;
  4. Evaluate written learning objectives for clarity based the requirements of a learning objective as well as the specific outcomes or competencies to be achieved in terms of skills, knowledge, attitudes or values;
  5. Practice writing learning objectives;
  6. Describe suitable training materials, hands-on activities, instruction techniques, and assessment methods that are appropriate for use in a learning event to align with stated learning objectives; and
  7. Prepare and submit three examples of well-written learning objectives with identification of activities and assessments that are effectively aligned. (Post-work. Feedback to be provided).

None

Pre-Work:

Read Writing Learning Objectives article and review the OWM Procedure for Learning Event Design and Implementation

Post-Work:

Prepare and submit three examples of well-written learning objectives with identification of activities and assessments that are effectively aligned. (Feedback to be provided).

Minimum Requirement(s):

Complete pre-work, 100 % attendance, complete all reading assignments, submit course notes, and submit three examples of learning objectives with activities and assessments that are aligned.

Audience:

Participants must be currently enrolled in OWM Train the Trainer Program.
