Greetings from the Governor
March 2001
As Governor of the state of Washington, I am delighted to extend my warm greetings to all of you who gathered to commemorate the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Centennial celebration.
I commend your organization's century long commitment to bring order and fairness to our nation's workplaces and businesses. The NIST has been a partner with states in developing national standards of commerce and in helping businesses across our nation meet technological challenges.
As we enter the 21st Century, it is important to remember the vital role that the NIST played at the turn of our century in helping to guide the emergence of the industrial revolution. I have no doubt that the NIST will continue to play an important role in the information age, by continuing to set standards that will allow our consumers and businesses to prosper and flourish.
Congratulations on a century of achievement!
Sincerely,
Gary Locke
Governor
