BOB TAFT
GOVERNOR
STATE OF OHIO
FROM THE OFFICE OF
GOVERNOR BOB TAFT
MARCH 2001
I am proud to extend my greetings and congratulations to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as you celebrate your 100th Anniversary in the year 2001.
The NIST was established in 1901 as the National Bureau of Standards to help guide our nation's commerce efforts, create standard marketing and business practices to protect American consumers, and support our scientific and technological endeavors. Since that time the Institute has evolved to meet the changing needs of the world's economy. The NIST works in conjunction with states and businesses to maintain national commercial standards and to meet modem technological challenges. Through the years, the NIST has successfully partnered with the State of Ohio and many Ohio-based businesses and organizations and has made many positive contributions to our state. I commend the NIST for your work.
On behalf of all Ohioans, best wishes on your Centennial Anniversary and for continued future success!
Sincerely,
Bob Taft
Governor
