Matthew Bundy ()

Dr. Matthew F. Bundy is the Director of and a supervisory mechanical engineer in the National Fire Research Laboratory (NFRL) of the Fire Research Division (FRD) of the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dr. Bundy joined NIST in 1999 as a NRC/NIST Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Fire Research Division and studied suppression of low strain rate laminar diffusion flames in microgravity.

Dr. Bundy is the current group leader of the EL National Fire Research Laboratory. He has led projects studying uncertainty of heat release rate measurements in large scale fires, flammability measures for polymeric materials, and under-ventilated compartment fires. He is the Research Executive of the ASTM E5 Fire Standards Committee.
