Heather Mayton is the Division Chief for Internal Operations and Executive Officer for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She is a member of MEP’s senior leadership team. Since 1988, MEP’s industry experts have worked side by side with their partners in the public and private sectors to strengthen communities and U.S. manufacturing.
Heather is responsible for human resources, finance, budget, IT, program compliance and audit. She is responsible for evaluating program efficiency to ensure that NIST meets MEP program requirements, recommending policy changes for NIST, and improving MEP program efficiency. She serves as the liaison with NIST Budget & Financial Operations Division on program funding and serves as HR expert & liaison for the Operating Unit (OU). Heather supervises the MEP Receptionist, Administrative Officers, IT professionals, and the program compliance and audit liaison.
Heather has over 30 years of Government experience serving in a wide variety of positions including the Executive Officer for Administration and Senior Management Advisor in the NIST Director’s office where she supervised the administrative operations of five operating units (OU) and managed a budget of over $350 million. Heather also served as the Administrative Officer in the former Advanced Technology Program (ATP) and managed a budget of over $250 million.
Heather holds her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Hood College and Bachelor’s degree from Shepherd College. She recently received her change management certification from Prosci
