CRE Project Presents Recommendations to Fiatech European Advisory Council

Mark Palmer presented research results from the EL Collaborative Requirements Engineering (CRE) project to the Fiatech European Advisory Council on July 18, 2013.  The presentation included a set of recommendations for improving the development and deployment of the evolving interoperability standard for industrial automation systems and integration (ISO standard 15926).  The meeting was held at the Bentley Systems London office, with representatives from most of the major software suppliers for the process, power and industrial facilities industries: Autodesk, AVEVA, Bentley, Dassault Systemes and Siemens. The presentation was made remotely from NIST with a follow-up web discussion. This work is documented in a NIST Report 7917, "Modeling and Conformance Testing for the Engineering Information Integration Standard ISO 15926," which includes recent NIST work on representing and exchanging equipment functional properties.

Fiatech is an international consortium that leads global development and adoption of innovative practices and technologies to realize the highest business value throughout the life cycle of capital assets.  Fiatech was founded in 2000, from a partnership between NIST and the Construction Industry Institute, a research center at the University of Texas at Austin.
