Abstract

The purpose of this presentation is to introduce teachers to a demonstration that exposes K-12 students to a variety of scientific areas through experiments using liquid nitrogen. This presentation demonstrates how changing the temperature of materials changes their size and shape. During the presentation, there are many opportunities to explore subjects for which changes in temperature are important such as magnetism, biology, the relationship between pressure and volume, and the composition of air. Students may perform some of the experiments in this presentation.
