The physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of polycrystalline TiB2 are reviewed with an emphasis on the significant dependence of the properties on the density and grain size of the material specimens. By examining the density and grain size dependence across all the properties, it is possible to derive a comprehensive set of well defined property values. Results for crystal structure, elastic, bulk, and shear moduli, Poisson's ratio, sound velocities, flexural, tensile, and compressive fracture strengths, fracture toughness, hardness, creep, friction and wear, thermal expansion, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and specific heat are given as a function of temperature for a density of (4.5 ± 0.1) g/cm3 and a grain size of (9 ± 1) υm.
