Ultrafast Terahertz Spectroscopy: Measuring Low-Frequency Vibrational Modes of Hydrogen-Bonded Systems

Abstract

An ultrafast terahertz spectrometer using ZnTe crystals for optical rectification and free-space electro-optic sampling has been developed to measure vibrational dynamics of biological molecules. Spectrometer characteristics and absorption spectra of hydrogen-bonded dimers in condensed phases will be presented.
