Abstract
U.S. Federal Agencies use multiple approaches to both laboratory accreditation and conformity assessment programs, as they carry out their regulatory and mission responsibilities. Because the U.S. does not have broad, cross-cutting laws on standardization, accreditation and/or metrology, Federal agencies develop accreditation and conformity assessment programs in response to specific Congressional laws on particular topics. At the heart of any Federal program is the desire/intent to verify competence of a laboratory to provide credible test data to demonstrate compliance with a regulation or procurement action.Proceedings Title
