We are pleased to announce that the OSAC Registry Implementation Open Enrollment will continue in 2024. This year’s open enrollment period will extend from Monday, July 8 through Monday, September 2, 2024. The timing of this period has been strategically selected to align with National Forensic Science Week which runs from September 15 through 21. This would represent an excellent opportunity for forensic science service providers (FSSPs) to celebrate and share this accomplishment with the public.
Please help us to make this Open Enrollment period the most successful one so far. If your agency has yet to complete the implementation survey or your survey has not been updated in the past year, this would be a great time to do so.
When all participants in the standards development process are considered, there are over one thousand individuals dedicating their time and efforts to improving the national forensic science standards landscape. This critical data collection process helps to demonstrate the value of these efforts by documenting the extent to which these standards are used and how they are being implemented in actual forensic practice.
To date, 159 FSSPs have acknowledged their implementation status helping to grow our standards implementation database. This is a solid foundation to work from; however, this represents only a small fraction of the FSSPs for which these standards are applicable.
We are therefore asking the FSSP community to update their implementation survey information if they have submitted data previously, or complete a new implementation survey for those that have yet to provide their information. Thirty-six new implementers were added during the 2023 open enrollment event. With your assistance, we can surely beat this benchmark and make the 2024 event an even greater success.
If you have any questions or need any additional information to assist with your implementation journey, please reach out to staff members Vinny Desiderio at vincent.desiderio [at] nist.gov (vincent[dot]desiderio[at]nist[dot]gov) (general and open enrollment related questions), Mark Stolorow at mark.stolorow [at] nist.gov (mark[dot]stolorow[at]nist[dot]gov) (traditional forensic discipline implementation related assistance or questions), and/or Steven Johnson at steven.johnson [at] idealinnovations.com (steven[dot]johnson[at]idealinnovations[dot]com) (non-traditional forensic discipline related assistance or questions).
