Lisa Derby is a trained chemist and career safety professional with over fifteen years of experience in laboratory safety practice. She currently serves as the Material Measurement Laboratory (MML) Safety Program Coordinator. Prior to joining MML, she worked with the NIST Office of Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE) for more than nine years, serving as manager of the personal protection equipment (PPE) program, building expertise in chemical inventory systems and processes, and helping to establish NIST policy and practice related to chemical laboratory safety. Prior to joining NIST, she did analytical and synthetic chemistry work for six years at Dupont. Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in health promotion with a Health Coaching certificate. Lisa is a certified Chemical Hygiene Officer.
