Patty is a Biologist in the Biomarker and Genomic Sciences Group. Her work focuses on developing standardized measurements, protocols and benchmark datasets for the molecular characterization of biotechnology products created using genome editing technologies. She also contributes to the efforts of the NIST Genome Editing Consortium to implement measurement assurance to the evaluation of genome editing outcomes and to the advancement of projects in the NIST Genome Editing Program.
Prior to joining NIST, Patty worked in the field of DNA diagnostics performing clinical analysis of variants detected in genetic testing and other related tasks including creating and revising workflows, training resources and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). As a graduate student and post-doctoral fellow, Patty’s research focused on the functional characterization of variants associated with allergic phenotypes and genes associated with intestinal inflammation.
