Industrial Thermometer Calibrations

The Industrial Thermometer Calibration Laboratory calibrates the following:

  • Industrial thermometer probes
    • platinum resistance (IPRT)
    • thermistor
    • thermocouple
  • Digital readouts with attached probes

Calibrations in this laboratory are made by comparison with an ITS-90 calibrated standard platinum resistance thermometer in stirred liquid baths in the temperature range –196 ºC to 550 ºC.

Fixed-point measurements at the water triple point (0.01 °C) and the ice point (0 °C) are available.

How to Arrange a Calibration

  1. Go to Shop NIST web page
  2. Down arrow for Calibrations
  3. Scroll to Thermodynamic and click
  4. Scroll to Laboratory and Industrial-Grade Thermometers and click
  5. Please note that NIST no longer calibrates Liquid in Glass thermometers
  6. Click the appropriate service description and follow the instructions on that page
  7. If you have questions send email to wmiller [at] nist.gov (wmiller[at]nist[dot]gov) or itcl [at] nist.gov (itcl[at]nist[dot]gov).
