As part of the development of the NIST PFAS Mass Spectral Database, researchers are seeking high resolution mass spectral data of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, either in analytical standards or in complex environmental or technical mixtures. The data must be generated using electrospray ionization (ESI) or atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) only and have MS1 and MS2 (fragmentation) data available.
For more information on the NIST PFAS Mass Spectral Database, go to Reference Data and Tools.
In addition, NIST supports research regarding the suspect screening of complex mixtures for PFAS through the maintenance of the NIST Suspect List of Possible Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances. This is a database of possible PFAS based on PFAS researcher input through peer-reviewed publications and other literature sources.
If you are interested in providing PFAS mass spectral data or novel PFAS identities for the NIST Suspect List, please reach out to pfas [at] nist.gov (subject: %5BPFAS%20Data%20Contribution%20Inquiry%5D) (pfas[at]nist[dot]gov).
