Impact Force Standard
The NIST Impact force standard performs impact calibration of instrumented hammers and other force transducers. It is based on interferometric measurement of the acceleration of a freely-moving impacted mass. The calibration can be single-point (peak force) or broadband (impulse response function or frequency response function). The operating amplitude range is up to approximately 200 N, and the calibration bandwidth is approximately 12 kHz.
