Abstract

We have measured the radiative lifetimes for the 2S2 2P 2P3/2 level of Ar13+ and the 3s23p2 3P2 level of Kr22+. These measurements were performed by monitoring the temporal behavior of their associated radiative decays during magnetic trapping mode in an electron beam ion trap [EBIT]. Our lifetime results, 8.7[5] ms for Ar13+ and 5.7 [5] ms for Kr22+, are compared with theory.
