CHIPS For America Awards in Colorado

Vapor Cell Technologies

Award Amount
$257,367
CHIPS Organization
CHIPS SBIR
Develop advanced dimensional metrology tools for semiconductor fabrication equipment to minimize the gap in the physical-digital divide and amplifying the accuracy of digital twins. This project will benefit the U.S. microelectronics supply chain.

Tech-X Corporation

Award Amount
$289,992
CHIPS Organization
CHIPS SBIR
Develop a simulation tool for photonic integrated circuits that accounts for manufacturing variations and imperfections. This project will benefit the designers of photonic integrated circuits, who will have faster development times as well as U.S. semiconductor manufacturers and fabrication facilities.

Octave Photonics

Award Amount
$290,000
CHIPS Organization
CHIPS SBIR
Develop a new measurement tool to analyze airborne contaminants and toxic gases inside and outside the fab that lead to semiconductor processing defects and safety infringements. This project will benefits U.S semiconductor fabrication facilities.

Microchip Technology, Inc. (Colorado)

Proposed Award Amount
approximately $162 million in proposed incentives (split across Colorado Springs, CO and Gresham, OR projects)
CHIPS Organization
CHIPS Program Office
The proposed CHIPS for America investment will modernize and expand a fabrication facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which would enable Microchip to significantly increase its U.S. production of microcontroller units and other specialty semiconductors built on mature-nodes critical to America’s automotive, commercial, industrial, defense, and aerospace industries.

Entegris (Colorado)

Award Amount
$77 million in direct funding
CHIPS Organization
CHIPS Program Office
The CHIPS for America award will provide Entegris up to $77 million in total direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act to support the construction of its state-of-the-art manufacturing center in Colorado Springs. The center is being built in multiple phases: the first to support production of FOUPs — which are currently entirely produced abroad — and liquid filter membranes, and the second phase to support the production of advanced liquid filters and purifiers as well as fluid handling solutions. In addition to the manufacturing center, Entegris is also committed to further expanding their R&D capabilities in the United States by the end of the decade.
