Dear Colleagues,

The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program is helping to address a critical national need-- promoting and facilitating excellence in cybersecurity. Some reviewing this information may be unfamiliar with Baldrige, while others know the impact of Baldrige and how through the adoption of the concepts and principles found in the Baldrige Excellence Framework many thousands of organizations have dramatically improved their operations and results, including product and service quality, financial outcomes, workforce and customer engagement, and organizational alignment.

The Baldrige Program teamed up with NIST’s Applied Cybersecurity Division, responsible for the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, to develop a self-assessment tool integrating Baldrige concepts and those of the Cybersecurity Framework. The Baldrige Cybersecurity Excellence Builder (BCEB) is a voluntary self-assessment tool that enables organizations to better understand the effectiveness of their cybersecurity risk management efforts. It helps organizations identify strengths and opportunities for improvement in managing cybersecurity risk based on their organization’s mission, needs, and objectives.

It is our hope that you will be willing to use the tool and provide us feedback on use of the tool in your own organizations. We welcome your input and we want to understand its pros, cons, and issues through your use and insights as we move forward.
