On January 16, 2025, the U.S. Department of Commerce and Analog Devices, Inc. (“ADI”) signed a non-binding preliminary memorandum of terms (PMT) to provide up to $105 million in proposed direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. The proposed investment would support the modernization and expansion of a front-end mature node semiconductor manufacturing facility in Camas, Washington.
- This proposed CHIPS funding would be split across three projects in Chelmsford, MA, Beaverton, OR and Camas, WA locations:
- Increase capacity at the facilities across a variety of mature node processes while onshoring 180nm and 350nm process nodes for devices used in a wide variety of applications, including automotive, industrial, and defense applications.
- As part of this modernization, ADI will use state-of-the-art processes that are more environmentally friendly to reduce the use of solvents at its Washington facility.
- ADI has launched the Semiconductor Advanced Manufacturing Upskilling (SAMU) technician training facility, which will offer programs to support manufacturers and collaborators in the Silicon Forest.
- To advance the company’s workforce efforts and community investments, ADI plans to build on its partnerships with education partners and provide financial support for manufacturing employees to achieve associate degrees and technical certifications.
