public transportation & local attractions

The Washington DC metro rail system allows for easy access to DC area airports and tourist attractions. A map can be seen here: https://www.wmata.com/schedules/maps/upload/2022-System-Map.pdf

From Reagan National Airport: take the Yellow line north (towards “Greenbelt”). Transfer to the Red line (towards “shady grove”) at Gallery Place. Exit at Twinbrook station.

From Dulles International Airport: take the Silver line east (towards “Downtown Largo”). Transfer to the Red line (towards “Shady Grove”) at Metro Center. Exit at Twinbrook station.

For those wishing to tour DC, from the hotel you can take the Red line south (towards “Glenmont”). Most tourist spots are within a walking distance from Metro Center or Smithsonian metro stops. The Smithsonian museums are free and are worth a visit. The Natural History Museum (https://naturalhistory.si.edu/) is a great place to start.  There are too many museums to see them all in one day!
