The table above gives general information on the pressure vessels available at the NCNR. With the exception of the McWhan Clamp Cell, all vessels are pressurized using an external, piston driven pressure intensifier. For more information please click on the name of the pressure vessel of interest.
NCNR Pressure Vessel Stored Energy Limit Calculation
NOTE 1: The use of any other pressure vessel is strongly discouraged. Nevertheless, approval by the Sample Environment Team and the NCNR Safety Review Board is required PRIOR to any experiment involving a different pressure vessel design.
NOTE 2: For safety reasons, a qualified Sample Environment Team member (or a trained user, for LIPSS) will be the only person allowed to load the sample in the appropriate pressure vessel and operate the pressure intensifier equipment.
